Movie Matinee

Join us at 12:00 P.M. on the days listed below for a movie matinee. The library will provide light refreshments, and we encourage you to bring a brown bag lunch. It's free to attend, and no registration is required. For movie names, please call the library at (618) 692-7556. Check with the Library for movie titles; we can’t publish them due to the licensing agreement.  Enjoy the show!

 

Monday, May 17 – This comedy about a brash reporter (Clark Gable) and spoiled heiress (Claudette Colbert) won five Academy Awards in 1934.
Thursday, June 17 – Bob Hope and Bing Crosby hit the road in this zany comedy. 
Thursday, July 15 – Katharine Hepburn stars as a prim English missionary in Africa during World War I who embarks on a dangerous journey with Humphrey Bogart, the pilot of a decrepit steamboat. There’s adventure, drama, and humor as this unlikely pair come to rely on each other in this true Hollywood classic. 
Thursday, August 19– Greta Garbo plays a Soviet official who arrives in Paris on business involving the sale of some extremely valuable czarist jewels. She soon discovers the magic of Paris as well as a romantic interest portrayed by Melvyn Douglas.  Ernst Lubitsch directed this great comedy.
