Donations & Dragons

Published Thursday, September 24, 2026

For over two years, I’ve had the pleasure of running Dungeons & Dragons programs at the Edwardsville Public Library. While I’ve always appreciated our extensive collection of official D&D books, I long wished we had more titles from third-party and indie creators. When EPL added Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass to our shelves, it was instantly a popular item in our collection. After its success, I reached out to various indie TTRPG creators to ask for donations. Thanks to their incredible generosity, EPL has expanded its collection with third-party D&D books and brand-new tabletop systems you won't find anywhere else in the Illinois Heartland Library System.

Thanks to these incredible creators, we have significantly expanded our TTRPG collection. We’ve added both third-party D&D supplements and entirely new game systems. Even if you don't play TTRPGs, these books are worth checking out just for their visual art, one of my personal favorites is Pirate Borg, but every new addition is visually stunning. Next time you're in the library, be sure to stop by our TTRPG section and check out these new additions to our collection!

Table Top Roleplaying Games

Blades in the Dark
Blades in the Dark

Donated by Evil Hat

Blades in the Dark is a tabletop role-playing game about a crew of daring scoundrels seeking their fortunes on the haunted streets of an industrial-fantasy city. There are heists, chases, occult mysteries, dangerous bargains, bloody skirmishes, and, above all, riches to be had — if you’re bold enough to seize them.

You and your fledgling crew must thrive amidst the threats of rival gangs, powerful noble families, vengeful ghosts, the Bluecoats of the city watch, and the siren song of your scoundrel’s own vices. Will you rise to power in the criminal underworld? What are you willing to do to get to the top?
