When did you start working at EPL?
I started in June of 2026!
Earliest memory of being in a library?
My earliest memory of being in a library is when I was about five years old and listening to a man play the guitar for a children's program. I wish I could remember his name, but he was funny and read us stories too!
Favorite book genre/favorite book/favorite author
My favorite book series is the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, so the first book, The Raven Boys, is my favorite book. Stiefvater is my favorite author because of her poetic writing style. I also got the opportunity to meet Stiefvater at a book signing event in St Louis last year! I have been wanting to read her latest novel, The Listeners, but I have not had the chance to yet.
Would you rather only be able to whisper or only able to shout?
I would rather only be able to whisper because shouting takes up a lot of energy and is too loud.
What’s your favorite word?
My favorite word is the Spanish word, puedo, meaning “I can.” Puedo is the conjuagted form of poder, which means “to be able to” or “can.” I usually say it to myself when I’m struggling to do something. Then I say, “puedo hacer esto!” That translates to, “I can do this!”
What is your favorite aspect of working at the library?
That’s a tough question, because I have a lot of favorites! If I must pick one though, it would be helping kids and teens find reading materials that they love. One day I would like to be a children’s librarian, so I enjoy helping kids find books they want to read.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I like to spend my time reading, playing video games, and crocheting. Currently, however, I’m in college, so a lot of my time is spent doing homework.
Would you rather talk like Yoda or breathe like Darth Vader for the rest of your life?
I would rather breathe like Darth Vader because then I would get the red lightsaber.
Why should people visit the library?
Everyone should visit the library because the library is so cool! Not only can you check out books and movies, but there are so many cool kits in the Library of Things! My favorites include the Ghost Hunting Kit, American Girl Dolls, and the Garden Tool Kit.
Unusual or fun fact about yourself
I am skilled at balancing items on top of my head (mostly books and water bottles).
