How to Get a Library Card:
If you’re a student of Edwardsville School District #7, you automatically have a library account! Bring in your school ID!
If you rent, own property, or reside within the City limits:
Bring in your valid photo ID, showing your current address within the city limits.
If your ID does not show that address, provide a current utility bill, bank statement, lease, deed, or another similar document with your name and the Edwardsville address where you live, rent, or own property.
Your library card will be good for 3 years and can be renewed with the same (current) documents.
If you live outside of the City limits:
If you live in Edwardsville School District, but outside the city limits (and you don’t lease or own property here), you will pay a yearly fee equal to the library taxes you’d pay if you lived within the city limits.
What you'll need to get a 1-year non-resident library card:
If you own your property: bring in your valid photo ID. We will look up the taxable value of your property on the Madison County Treasurer's website. Bringing a paper copy of your most recent tax bill, can expedite the process if the site is down. We use the taxable value of your property to determine your cost.
If you rent: Bring in your valid photo ID and a signed copy of your lease. Your annual fee will be 10% of your monthly rent (minimum annual fee $25.00)
Look at “How Do I...“ on our website for specific fee exemptions and required documentation for income eligible students and qualified veterans.
If you attend SIUE:
Students who live on campus, show a photo ID. We’ll verify your residency with the SIUE housing roster.
If you live off campus see the guidelines above for those who live within and outside of the city limits.
