Summer Reading Challenge

Website Kids Banner SRP26

The Plant a Seed, Read along Rt. 66 Summer Reading Challenge will run from May 28th-July 31st, 2026.

This page is primarily for Ages 0-11. We also offer a Teen Summer Reading Challenge, as well as an Adult Summer Reading Challenge.

Plant a Seed, Read is rooted in the concept of farm to table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. This summer, we invite you to imagine the library as a community table where, instead of food, we feast on ideas! What will you grow with the seeds you plant?

  2. Your challenge is to read for at least 20 minutes a day for 30 days. The 30 days do not have to be in a row, and you can also break your 20 minutes into smaller sessions during the day! For example, read 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes before bed.
  3. Log the days you read on Beanstack and see your badges appear in color, or mark off a circle on your paper log as you progress.
  4. For every 6 days worth of reading, you earn a chance to spin our Prize Wheel! You can either redeem your reward at the Youth Desk as you earn them one at a time or all at once after you finish the whole challenge.
  5. Once you complete 30 days of reading, visit the Youth Desk to pick up your Free Book and enter your name in the Grand Prize Drawing!
